Chevrolet was co-founded by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant. Louis Chevrolet was a race-car driver, and William Durant, founder of General Motors, had been forced out of GM in 1910; he wanted to use Chevrolet’s designs to rebuild his own reputation as a force in the automobile industry. As head of Buick Motor Company, prior to founding GM, Durant had hired Chevrolet Chevrolet truck and engine forum to drive Buicks in promotional races.[1]

Chevrolet Chevy Blazer 2002 question first used its “bowtie”[2] logo in 1913. This logo is said to have been designed from wallpaper Durant once saw in a French hotel. Another theory of the design of the mark is that it is a stylized version of the shape of Switzerland or a stylized version of the cross on the flag of 2010 Chevrolet Volt Prototype Spied Auto Switzerland, Louis Chevrolet’s birthplace La Chaux-de-Fonds, Neuchâtel, Switzerland). See Flag of Switzerland.

In 1915, Durant made a trip to Toronto, Ontario to determine the possibility of setting up production facilities in Canada. After meeting with “Colonel Sam” McLaughlin, whose McLaughlin Motor Car Company manufactured the McLaughlin-Buick, it was agreed the Chevrolet Motor Car Company of Canada, operated by McLaughlin, would be created to build Chevrolet cars in Canada. Three years later, the two Canadian operations (Chevrolet was by then a part of GM in the United States) were purchased by GM to become General Motors of Canada Ltd.

Do you own an imported car? Have you already experienced shopping for its parts? I bet you had a hard time with that! This is the most common disadvantage of owning an imported car – the less possibility of finding a retailer or dealer to provide for your car parts needs.

Some parts may be hard to find replacements because only the dealers provide them, especially in the first two years of release of the model. This is for the purpose of recoup tooling costs of the car makers. This situation is where the warranty and services comes in. You take care of your car and if something is up, the warranty will take care of it.

After that two-year “licensing purpose agreement” your car parts may already be available in the market through retailers. There may be parts that may not actually possess the same brand as your car’s but could still be considered to replace a part in your car. Just a little research and you will be able to find an acceptable brand for your needs. You just always have to be critical in choosing where to buy. You have to carefully choose the brand and manufacturers as well. There are certain certifications that car parts manufacturers should comply and having that ISO or other certifications sticker, that will surely be printed on the box is a ++.

Online car parts shopping is convenient because you could do your shopping at home. However, offline shopping could let you see the actual part before the purchase. Anywhere would be fine but you just have to find a reliable distributor for your needs.

Don’t settle for second-hand or not so popular, you-could-get-almost-anywhere parts for they are as good as junk and could even cause you a lot more trouble and expenses.

We may care for our car so much to prevent it from having rust, however, if you were not able to do it successfully and you found some rusty portions in your car, proceed to the next step and protect the uninfected areas and stop rust propagation. Rust, once it has already infected your car, should be immediately eliminated because it can spread and eat up a huge portion of your vehicle.

Aside from the fact that a rusty car makes your vehicle ugly and unattractive, it also decreases its market value if you have plans of selling it to someone else and several other reasons why you should get rid of rust. Rust removal is offered in auto repair shops but unfortunately could be availed at a high cost. Having quite knowledge about the DIY steps in rust removal of your vehicle could let you save lots of money and time when you get that pest out of your vehicle.

Before anything else, remove the affected portion. Even if this portion is covered with paint, it can still eat up your car. Therefore, you have to eliminate the root of the rust. You can grind the rusty portion using grinders. Remember to make it smooth. A rough surface could make your car more prone to rust. Grind the surface gently to ensure that you only remove the infected portion and not more than what it should be.

Then, apply the prime and the paint. The primer prevents the surface to be infected with rust again and the paint is to protect the outer surface of your car. Use the blue painter¢s tape to prepare the surface to be painted. Three thin coats of body primer, applied smoothly would be enough to protect your car. Leave the primer overnight then apply three to four thin coats of paint until you achieve your desired color. Let the paint stand until it dries and cures thoroughly. Wash your car to sum things up and that¢s it. You now have a rust free vehicle.

Having a car could give you the convenience of being on-the-go whenever you want to go somewhere or if your friends invited you to some place far from home. However, due to the increasing price of oil in the market, a lot of people are already questioning if the convenience of having a car is worthy of several dollars spent in every full tank of gasoline.

We can’t stop the oil price hike and all we can do to save money with our gas is to minimize our consumption. There are still ways to do this and I hope you will find the following helpful.

Getting regular tune-ups is the most common and most important thing that a car owner should do to ensure he’ll save gas and care for his car at the same time. This will let you save money for both gas consumption and engine repairs. Minimizing the use of the air conditioner could be another way to save. Just turn it on if you’re not comfortable with the weather and feel the fresh air if the weather is fine. You could also adjust your driving habits and always practice using the 5th gear as soon as possible. Maintain a smooth speed and avoid driving on curvy and rough roads to prevent excessive gas consumption.

On the other hand, you could also maximize your car use to reduce your gas consumption. Make friends with your co-workers and engage yourselves in carpool. In this way, you take turns with using your car and it maximizes every ride. Planning your destinations each time you take your car out of your garage could also help you save gas. You do everything you could in one trip without wasting time and gas going back and forth just to do another thing.

Another thing that people discovered is the perfect time of the day to buy fuel. Colder periods make gasoline denser (much more fuel) and buying early in the morning or late at night when it’s colder could let you have more gas in the same gallons you use.

We should always keep a spare tire whenever we use our vehicle and go somewhere else. However, we may be lucky enough to not suffer from the disadvantage and hard work of replacing our car tires along the road. For a long time, we may have that spare tire kept and idle.

If in case you suddenly broke that tire of yours and you realized that the tire you have as spare has been sleeping for so many years now, think twice first and examine your tire if it could still be used and give you a safe ride. After so many ears of being idle, your tire may have lost its elasticity that could cause accidents along the road. Some hidden defects may have been caused by the long time it has been kept in your compartment. It may be rotten inside and if used, could cause the driver to lose his control while driving especially when driving at high speeds.

Tires are made of polymeric materials that may degrade after a certain period of time. To check when the car was manufactured, look at the last four digits of the embossed series of number on the outer or side wall of your tires that indicates the week and year it was made such as 2406 which implies that your tire is manufactured on the 24th week of 2006. According to vehicle safety experts, tires could be reliable until it reaches its 6th year and tires that are more than six years of age could cause tire failures.

Another important to consider is to check your manual. A certain portion should be allotted there for your car tires safety precautions. You may also request for a maintenance assistant to kindly check your spare tire as well even just every 6 months to determine whether you have to get yourself another spare tire. If you¢re stranded on the highway, check the appearance of your spare tire, use it temporarily until you get your destination and visit and auto shop to verify if your old spare tire is still in good shape.

The aim to eliminate the pollution and harmful effects of Lead caused by leaded gasoline led to the birth of unleaded gasoline. Leaded gasoline was used years ago to prevent the knocking-effect in the car’s engine, which is addressed by the presence of Lead in the gas. At present, unleaded gasoline and several car engine innovations have made leaded gasoline to obsoletion.

Presently, there are different grades of gasoline that could be used in your car: unleaded, super unleaded and premium unleaded. You just have to check which type is advised in your car owner’s manual. These types differ in the octane rating where the higher octane rating depicts better performance and more cost. A higher octane rating makes your engine have faster acceleration and more power plus a less violent explosion in your cylinder. You can use the grade specified in your manual or something higher than that, but not lower. There are also some types which are advertised to have other additives that could keep the engine cleaner and this, of course, cost more.

An important thing to note is to fill your tank in gas stations where several vehicles are filled up and gas supply is easy replenished. In this way, you’ll be sure you’ll get fresh gas and no “unwanted stock” will clog your tank.

We may be so concerned with the outside appearance of our car, specifically its paint, tint, rust-infected areas ad so many more. However, some people may take the inside of the car for granted. We may have the best looking car physically (outside) but when we invited friends to share the ride with us, we may create a major turn-off and negative impression if we have a dirty and stinky car.

Our vehicle takes us to places we want to go and it gives us the convenience of having a ride during a bad wintery weather. It is therefore a must that we do every little thing that we could to keep our auto clean and presentable.

Every corner of your car should be cleaned regularly to ensure you won¢t be keeping some disgusting stuffs in there. If you went to the store and bought something like fish or meat, clean your car immediately. See to it that you include cleaning your compartment and properly arrange your tool box and other stuffs in it. Decorate it with a few pillows and clean seat covers; but do not decorate too much. (You might over decorate your car and forget about your safety.) Buy some air freshener with a scent that¢s just right to keep your car smelling nice. Get your car prepared to make sure you¢ll have a ride that¢s worth riding. Keep it clean and smelling fresh, make it look nice from the outside to the inside.
